Work with collaborators and personas

Invite co-authors and choose what they can do, or publish under another name.

Invite collaborators

Collaborators work on a course, live class or blog with you: a co-author, a teaching assistant, or someone who proofreads.

  1. Open the item's Collaborators tab.
  2. Enter their Email address and press Add collaborator. They need an account on the site, and we let them know they were added.
  3. Choose what they can do.
Right What they can do
Can view See the work in progress in the studio, without changing it
Can edit Change what's there. Counts as a tutor
Can edit and add Edit, and add or delete parts such as sections, sessions, quizzes and assignments. Counts as a tutor
Full access Everything except deleting the item: publish, set prices and manage collaborators. Counts as a tutor

Only the author can delete the item.

Collaborators who count as a tutor can teach live sessions, and see and grade your learners' work.

You can change someone's right at any time, or remove them. Collaborators can also leave an item themselves.

Publish under another name

A persona is another name you can publish under, for example a pen name, or a brand for your resources.

Personas are for creators: you need a creator role, such as Course tutor, Blog author or Seller. You can have up to 3.

Create a persona
  1. Open Personas in your account.
  2. Press New persona.
  3. Fill in the Name, the Titles (separated by commas, for example "Chef, Food writer"), the About text and a photo.
  4. Turn on List on the Contributors page if you want it listed there. This works once it has an about text.
Publish as a persona

Courses, blogs and shop products have a Publish as field with their name and other details. Pick the persona there. It's saved straight away.

Learners then see the persona's name, photo and bio instead of yours. Your earnings still go to you. Only the author can change who an item is published as.

Live classes always show your own name, because learners see you on video.

Good to know
  • Sales and promotions run under one name at a time, so a sale never links a persona to you. See Set prices, discount codes and sales.
  • When someone buys from a persona, the payment page and the receipt also show your own name, so buyers know who they're buying from.
  • Archiving a persona hides it from new work. What you already published with it keeps its name.
